The following 7 questions will guide you on your home buying journey.

Name

Last Name

Pre-Approval

Do you have a local direct lender? Do you have a pre-approval in hand or proof of funds? Check out my resources to see great lenders.

Down Payment

Are you ready to make a down payment on your mortgage? Still saving, see my resource for funding under the Resources tab: Home Fund It

Monthly Budget

What will your monthly mortgage payment will be? It is better to keep your eye on the monthly payment, rather than the purchase price. This helps to establish your negotiation power in multiple offer situations. Have a conversation with your lender about escrow, insurance and closing costs. I use a free app, called Karl's Mortgage Calculator.

Type of Home

What are the requirements your home must have? What is negotiable? Will it be your forever home, starter home or downsize? Be specific. Bedroom and bathroom count, home office space, guest room, wells or septic systems, etc.

Property Nitty-Gritty

Other considerations might include a fenced yard, HOA fees, lot size, water access/views, commute times, environment and area locality.

Move In Ready or Remodel

Be specific on which type of things you can handle if you prefer some remodeling work. Is it painting and flooring or more elaborate? Do you have the funds separate for those items?

Timeline to Purchase

Are you just starting the process and need more guidance or time? Are you ready to leave where you are and start the search?
